Jamaica's National Bird

The "Doctor Bird" (Trochilus polytmus) lives only in Jamaica and is one of the most outstanding of all the species of Humming Birds. The feathers of the Doctor Bird are beautifully iridescent, a characteristic peculiar to this family.

All submissions and payments must be postmarked by the contest deadline to qualify. Writers do not have to have a paypal account to make online payments for their contest entries.

Upon entering any of our poetry competitions, you are confirming that you have read and agree to our rules and guidelines. You are also confirming that you are submitting your own original and exclusive work. We will not accept work simultaneously entered in other competitions or publications. If we find that any entrant does not comply with our rules, they will be disqualified and will no longer be welcomed to submit to any of our writing contests.

Lyrical Passion Poetry E-Zine acquires first rights and electronic rights for all works published. Rights revert back to the author upon publication. Please include first publication acknowledgments to Lyrical Passion Poetry E-Zine in subsequent publications.

If we decide to print hard copies of your work, you will be notified and we will request reprint rights.
